Pentagon Says Iran Can Make Material for Nuclear Bomb in 12 Days

Earlier, when the Iranian nuclear agreement was still in force, Tehran would have turned one year old.

In the past few years , Iran has significantly developed its own capabilities to build a nuclear bomb. Now the country may need a 12-day cycle for this. By the way, this happened after the administration of ex-President Donald Trump in 2018 withdrew from the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action.

This was stated during a hearing in the US House Armed Services Committee by Deputy Secretary of Defense for Political Affairs Colin Kahl, Ukrinform writes.

“In 2018, when the previous administration decided to withdraw from the JVPI, it would have taken Iran about 12 months to make the decoupling material for one bomb. Now they need about 12 days to do this,” the Pentagon spokesman said.

Colin Kahl says this is because Tehran has made “extraordinary” progress in developing its nuclear program.

While US officials say Iran has moved closer to producing fissile material, they do not believe the country has mastered the technology to build a bomb.

By the way, this is how the representative of the Ministry of Defense of the UWB substantiated the efforts of the administration of the incumbent President Joe Biden to return to the SVPI and establish control over Iran's nuclear program.

Recall that Bloomberg, citing two high-ranking diplomats, recently wrote that Iran was close to producing a nuclear bomb . Thus, international observers found uranium in the country enriched to a level slightly below that required for the creation of nuclear weapons. Iranians have to enrich uranium by another 6%.
