Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi called for the process of impeachment of former US President Donald Trump to continue. The Independent reports.
Pelosi said this is necessary, even if there is a threat to alienate Republican voters. She believes that Democrats and Republicans will not be able to unite, “if you just forget about everything and move on.”
Pelosi also added that the former American leader committed “an act of incitement to rebellion.”
Earlier it was reported that the new US President Joe Biden left the Senate with the right to decide the issue of impeachment to Donald Trump.
On January 14, the U.S. House of Representatives voted to impeach Trump in the wake of the recent riots in Washington. The debate lasted over seven hours. 232 lawmakers voted for impeachment because of incitement to rebellion, against 197. The last vote was the second attempt to remove Trump from office.
