The current US President Donald Trump may be involved in the killings that occurred during the storming of the Capitol on January 6. Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi accused him of this in an interview with MSNBC.
As Pelosi said, it was Trump who provoked the attack by the radicals, repeatedly speaking out about the alleged fraud in the presidential election and urging his supporters to march on the Capitol. “The words of the presidents are important. They weigh a ton, – explained the Speaker of the House of Representatives. “They used his words to come here.”
According to the politician, if in the future it is proved that the American leader and several other members of Congress collaborated with the rebels in one way or another, they should all be recognized as accomplices in the crimes committed during the capture of the Capitol, including the death of five people. “He instigated the rebellion that caused this death and this destruction,” Pelosi said.
At the same time, Politico notes, while a number of officials, including DC Attorney General Karl Racine, have previously stated that they are studying Trump's role in the unrest, none of them has yet directly spoken about the president's involvement in death of people. In the White House itself, Pelosi's words have not yet been commented on.
The storming of the Capitol in the United States took place on January 6 during a rally of supporters of the current head of state, who do not recognize the results of the November vote, which resulted in the election of Democrat Joe Biden as president. The rallies led to clashes with the police. Five people died, dozens were detained.
The Democrats accused Trump of inciting rebellion and sent a resolution to Congress to impeach him. The head of state himself considers his speech to his supporters on January 6, after which the riots began, completely admissible.
