Patriarch Kirill of Moscow may be included in the sixth package of EU sanctions – CNN

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, who stubbornly supports the policy of the Russian dictator and the killing of Ukrainians, may enter the sixth round of proposed EU sanctions sanctions.

The proposed project is aided for familiarization with the relevant EU ambassadors.

CNN reports this, citing two sources.

The head of the Russian Orthodox Church, Patriarch Kirill, is among those to be included in the proposed sixth round of European Union sanctions, sources say. At this stage, the names can be removed or added at the discretion of the member countries, a source in the EU Commission said.

Let us recall that earlier, foreign media reported that the European Union could impose sanctions against Patriarch Kirill. In particular, they noted that the head of the Lithuanian Foreign Ministry insists on this.

Let's note that Patriarch Kirill is an ardent admirer of Russian leader Vladimir Putin and at one time called his rule a “miracle”. According to a European External Action Service document seen by Politico, Kirill was “one of the greatest supporters of Russian military aggression against Ukraine” and a key player in boosting Vladimir Putin's Ukraine rhetoric. The document highlights a series of military sermons and remarks by Kirill a month after the Russian invasion, as well as his blessing to Russian soldiers fighting in Ukraine.
