Patriarch Bartholomew of Constantinople fell ill with COVID-19, the Patriarchate said. RIA Novosti reports.
It is noted that the priest was fully vaccinated. He shows mild symptoms of coronavirus, but his general condition is very good. With the received diagnosis, he went to the central hospital of Istanbul, where he underwent a preventive examination.
“The Ecumenical Patriarch thanks everyone who is interested in his state of health, and once again calls on everyone to follow the recommendations of doctors and specialists, and those who have not yet been vaccinated to do so for the benefit of themselves and society as a whole. On this occasion, he wishes everyone a happy and good Christmas, ”it was reported.
Earlier it became known that the patriarch was discharged from Mount Sinai Hospital in New York after a stent was installed. He was hospitalized during his 12-day visit to the States. He was feeling unwell due to fatigue from the long journey and the program of activities.
