Pashinyan’s statement on leaving the CSTO: the Armenian Foreign Ministry made an important clarification

by alex

The statement by the head of the Armenian government only spoke about the possibility of leaving the military-political association controlled by Russia.

Armenian Foreign Minister Ararat Mirzoyan said that the words of the head of the Armenian government Nikol Pashinyan about the country's withdrawal from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) are incorrect understood.

This was reported by the News.am publication.

According to him, Pashinyan stated that his country will decide when to leave the CSTO and “will not return back.”

“That's what was said – no less, no more. If someone claims that the Prime Minister stated that Armenia is leaving the CSTO, then he is mistaken. “This is very easy to prove,” the head of the Armenian Foreign Ministry clarified.

As previously reported, back in February 2024, Pashinyan stated that the country's membership in the CSTO was effectively “frozen.” In May, Yerevan stopped funding this military-political organization controlled by Russia.

Recall that today, June 12, Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, during a speech in parliament, stated that Armenia “will leave the CSTO and will make an appropriate decision for this.”
