Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan revealed details about the course of the negotiations on Karabakh. He spoke about the catastrophe in this process, according to RIA Novosti.

Pashinyan stated that Armenia received disastrous proposals on Karabakh in 2016. The co-chairs presented three packages of proposals, in which for the first time since 2011 they did not include a proposal that Nagorno-Karabakh receives an intermediate status. He called the transfer of this problem to the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) a disaster.

“But this is not the tragedy … no one says that the issue of clarifying the temporary status of Nagorno-Karabakh, according to this negotiating content, was transferred to the UN Security Council,” he stressed.

The prime minister added that during the entire negotiation process, the Armenian side tried to transfer the final solution to the problem to the OSCE Minsk Group, and in 2016, the parameters of the conflict settlement were at the UN Security Council.

Pashinyan added that the decision of the UN Security Council was predictable, since in 1993 the Council adopted a resolution that announced “the Nagorno-Karabakh region of Azerbaijan” and the recognition of Azerbaijan's territorial integrity and the inviolability of borders.

“This catastrophe happened in the negotiation process in 2016,” Pashinyan concluded.
