Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan announced that on December 19, the country will declare a 3-day mourning for those killed in Nagorno-Karabakh.

“December 19 is the fortieth day of the cessation of hostilities in Karabakh and in this regard, a three-day mourning will be declared on December 19,” Pashinyan said on his Facebook page.

According to him, on Saturday in Yerevan a “Memory Procession” will be organized from the Republic Square to the “Yerablur” military pantheon.

Let us remind that the hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh continued from September 27 to November 9. Fierce battles were fought in the area for more than a month and a half. Armenia and Azerbaijan accused each other of violating previous agreements. Martial law and mobilization were declared in Baku and Yerevan.

The OSCE countries urged the parties to sit down at the negotiating table. During this time, the countries made several attempts to reconcile, but they all failed.

Only on November 9, with the participation of the Russian side, the presidents of Russia, Azerbaijan and the Prime Minister of Armenia adopted a statement on a complete ceasefire in Nagorno-Karabakh. The main conditions were a complete ceasefire, the introduction of Russian peacekeepers into the region and the exchange of prisoners and bodies of the dead.
