Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan in an interview with TASS predicted the return of refugees to Nagorno-Karabakh by the end of the year.

According to him, “there is a fairly good flow” of returning residents. Thus, the president of the unrecognized republic Arayik Harutyunyan said that 25 thousand people have already returned. “We are confident that most of the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh will return by the end of the year,” Pashinyan said and assured that all the necessary conditions will be created for this.

The prime minister noted that many houses in Karabakh were destroyed, and restoration work should be started. But first, they need to provide “prompt financial assistance” to meet their “priority needs”.

“It is very important to note that the Russian Federation also intends to take steps to ensure the return of the residents of Nagorno-Karabakh to their homes,” Pashinyan said.

On November 9, the leaders of Armenia, Azerbaijan and Russia signed a joint statement on the cessation of hostilities in Nagorno-Karabakh. According to the document, the Azerbaijani army remains in the positions it occupied during the conflict. Three more regions will be transferred under the control of Baku by December 1. Russian peacekeepers will operate along the line of demarcation and the corridor linking Armenia and Karabakh.
