Moscow. The 21st of April. INTERFAX.RU – After Russia leaves the ISS project, the responsibility for the Russian segment will pass to the partners, the option of commercial use is also being considered, the head of Roscosmos Dmitry Rogozin told reporters.
“We are starting negotiations with our partners NASA, we are now formalizing them, and this does not mean that after 2025 the station will be immediately destroyed and flooded. We will simply transfer responsibility for our segment to our partners. Or we will carry out the tasks that are necessary to maintain the station , on a commercial basis, and not at the expense of the budget, “Rogozin said.
Earlier this weekend, Deputy Prime Minister Yuri Borisov in the program “Moscow. Kremlin. Putin” on the TV channel “Russia 1” said that the country plans to create its own orbital station and withdraw from the ISS project from 2025.
Meanwhile, on April 12, the Moskovsky Komsomolets newspaper reported that the Russian leadership had approved a decision to create an independent Russian space station.
In October 2020, Vladimir Soloviev, Flight Director of the ISS Russian Segment, said that the corporation's specialists predict “an avalanche-like failure of numerous elements on board the ISS” after 2025.
