Supporters of former US President Donald Trump during the storming of the Capitol on January 6 wanted to lynch Vice President Michael Pence and Speaker of the US House of Representatives Nancy Pelosi. Prosecutor Stacey Pleskit said this at the impeachment trial to Trump, reports CBS News.
The journalists present at the Capitol heard the attackers loudly talking about their intentions, she said. This information was later confirmed by the arrested participants in the assault, she said. Pleskit also pointed out that a gallows appeared on the lawn in front of the Capitol building.
The prosecutor said the politicians had to be evacuated from the building. She showed a video showing how a group of people led by Pence runs down the steps of the Capitol, RIA Novosti reports.
Earlier on February 11, at a trial to impeach former US President Donald Trump, viewers were asked to remove children from TV screens. Chief Prosecutor, Rep. Jamie Raskin, explained that footage of “disturbing violence” will be broadcast during the proceedings.
On January 6, Republican protesters stormed the Capitol Building and surrounded the Senate Hall.
