Participants are caught in Minsk

by alex

On November 8, protests are held again in Minsk and other cities of Belarus. In the capital, according to media estimates, no more than 7 thousand people are participating in the march. As in the course of other actions, the security forces carry out detentions and try to divide the column of protesters.

According to the Viasna human rights center, about 120 people have been detained, and videos of violent street arrests appear on telegram channels.

The most large-scale protest action in recent times took place in Minsk on October 25: on that day, the term of the “people's ultimatum” expired, which was put forward by presidential candidate Svetlana Tikhanovskaya to President Alexander Lukashenko. The opposition failed to organize mass strikes after the rally.

Alexander Lukashenko, whose resignation is being demanded by the protesters, promises to hold new elections in the country. Specific dates, as in the case of the constitutional reform, are not named. On the eve of Lukashenko called the US elections a shame.
