Moldova has a chance to get a better life in Europe.
The troops of the Russian Federation will not attack Moldova by military means, but will try to paralyze it with a hybrid war.
This was stated by the Romanian politician, speaker of the Senate – the upper house of the Romanian Parliament, Deputy Secretary General of NATO Mircea Geoana.
“So far there is no immediate threat to Moldova, because Moscow has not been able to capture Odessa and come to Transnistria,” Joana said, pointing to other hostile actions by the Kremlin.
The Romanian politician expects that Russia's hybrid actions against Chisinau may be a repetition of schemes used in other countries in recent years.
“For example, in 2006, the Kremlin tried to use its entire arsenal of hybrid warfare in Montenegro. Now this could happen in Moldova,” Joana said.
He noted that the tools used by Russia in Moldova will include attempts to cause chaos in the activities of state authorities, internal destabilization activities through social protests or cyber attacks.
“Moldova has a chance to break out of its current strategic ambiguity and have a better life in Europe,” the Romanian politician said, stressing that Chisinau's membership in both the EU and NATO is realistic.
Recall, the Russian-American historian Yuri Felshtinsky believes that sooner or later Russia will start hostilities in Moldova. According to him, the military operation in Moldova is extremely problematic and risky for the Russians until they break through the land corridor. The historian assures that the Russian troops in Transnistria cannot independently conduct military operations, even against the Moldovan army.
