German Chancellor Olaf Scholz stated this to EU leaders at the summit, writes Politico.
It is noted that Scholz, behind closed doors in front of EU leaders, admitted that Europe may need up to five years to completely abandon energy supplies from Russia.
Minister of Economy Robert Gabek noted that in the case of gas, this will take longer, at least until the middle 2024.
Recall that German energy companies are very quick to cancel their contracts with Russian suppliers of oil and coal. According to the government, Germany should be almost free of imports of Russian oil and coal until the end of 2022.
