The Russian forward of the National Hockey League (NHL) New York Rangers club Artemy Panarin on Twitter criticized the league.
Panarin has expressed concerns about the long-term welfare of the NHL. In his opinion, the league infringes on the rights of players in the distribution of income. “For two decades, hockey players have protected the owners' income with the help of escrow (deductions to the NHL insurance fund – Lenta.ru ). We did this even during the pandemic, although the wealth of the owners continued to grow exponentially, ”the forward noted.
The hockey player felt that the NHL needed to fix the escrow situation. “We, as players, cannot return to training without a prepared agreement. We are all together, ”he summed up.
Panarin is the highest paid Russian player in the NHL. Last July, he signed a seven-year contract with the Rangers for $ 81.5 million.
The NHL regular season was suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic in early March. The tournament must resume at the playoff stage. The start date of the matches is not yet known.
