Palestine will ask Biden to return the US embassy to Tel Aviv

Mahmoud Abbas

Palestinian Authority Leader Mahmoud Abbas will ask Democratic candidate Joe Biden, who won the presidential election, to return the American Embassy in Israel from Jerusalem to Tel Aviv. Israel Hayom reports this with reference to sources in the Palestinian Authority.

The source claims that hopes for the success of Abbas's request are not high: Biden and his staff have already made it clear that the US Embassy will remain in Jerusalem. Moreover, Biden himself is considered by the Palestinian Authority to be a staunch Zionist.

Abbas is also going to tell the new US president that Palestine is ready to resume the peace talks with Israel, which were interrupted in 2016, under the auspices of the United States, from the same positions in which they were then stopped. The Palestinian leader has already congratulated Biden on his election victory.

The American Embassy in Israel moved from Tel Aviv to Jerusalem in 2018. Thus, in fact, the United States recognized the status of Jerusalem as the capital of Israel, disputed by Palestine due to the fact that the city was captured by Israeli troops only in 1967 and, since then, according to the Palestinians, has been under occupation.

Earlier in October, Palestinian Prime Minister Mohammed Staye hoped for God's help for his country if Donald Trump wins the American elections again.
