Pakistani authorities banned TikTok in the country
In Pakistan, the popular social network TikTok will be blocked, as the court made the appropriate decision, RIA Novosti reported, citing local media outlets.
“The court asked the Pakistani Telecommunications Authority to block access to TikTok,” a spokesman for the republic’s telecommunications regulator, Khurram Mehran, told Dawn newspaper. He clarified that the department will comply with the order.
Earlier, the High Court of the city of Peshawar ordered the application to be banned, agreeing with the complainant, who believes that obscene content is being distributed through the social network.
In turn, the representative of TikTok in Pakistan said that he was aware of the court order and promised that the company would comment on the situation later.
In October, Pakistan had already banned the TikTok app, but after 10 days the ban was lifted, as its developer pledged to moderate the accounts in accordance with local laws.
TikTok was one of the most downloaded apps in Pakistan after WhatsApp and Facebook.
