China bans men wearing makeup on television
The Chinese authorities have imposed a ban on the display of images of painted men on television, Moskovsky Komsomolets reports.
This is explained by the fact that the painted artists do not fit into the traditional view of men. According to the publication, it is now also impossible to show on television individuals convicted of contradicting “public order and morality.”
TV channels were obliged to set beauty standards that would correspond to the moral values of the country's inhabitants. They were also told to focus on socialist and traditional Chinese culture instead of the entertainment segment and not to show luxury. Employees are not allowed to pay too high salaries.
Earlier, Chinese Communist Party leader Xi Jinping banned all broadcasters from allowing effeminate men to air. The National Radio and Television Administration, in turn, said that Chinese companies should “resolutely put an end to effeminate men and other abnormal aesthetics.”
