PACE confirmed the credentials of the Russian delegation

The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) adopted a resolution that confirmed the credentials of the Russian delegation. The voting was broadcast on the agency's website.

The resolution was supported by 107 parliamentarians, against – 36. Another 24 people abstained. “Thus, the resolution has been adopted,” said PACE President Rick Dams.

At the opening of the PACE winter session on January 25, the head of the Ukrainian delegation, Maria Mezentseva, proposed to challenge the powers of the Russian delegation. After her statement, a vote took place, during which her initiative was supported by 38 participants in the meeting. Another 61 people voted against, 51 abstained. According to the rules of the organization, at least 30 representatives from five national delegations must support the initiative.
