by alex

In Senegal, more than 200 fishermen have contracted a mysterious disease that they contracted in the Atlantic Ocean. It is reported by the newspaper Sud Quotidien.

It is noted that patients become covered with scabs, itch strongly and complain of swollen lips and eye irritation. The authorities of the African country have imposed a temporary ban on fishing in the contaminated area near the suburb of Dakar. Water samples will be taken there for analysis. It is known that zirconium is being mined not far from the specified place, and there are chemical plants on the coast, from where a leak into the ocean could occur.

Earlier in November, it was reported that an unknown disease in Delta State in southern Nigeria had killed at least 15 people. It is known that the victims were between 18 and 25 years old. The state authorities have assured that they are already doing their best to slow the spread of the disease.
