In India, an outbreak of the deadly Nipah virus was recorded, as a result of the disease, a 12-year-old boy died.
The virus was detected in the southern state of Kerala. Two people are now experiencing his symptoms. Indian authorities have deployed specialists from the National Center for Disease Control. Together with the doctors, they will identify the contacts of the infected in order to quarantine everyone who interacted with the sick, the NDTV channel reports.
Recall that in June 2021, experts from the National Institute of Virology of India first discovered the Nipah virus in bats in the state of Maharashtra. The virus, which is commonly found in flying foxes and mice, has been reported to be one of the most dangerous in the world by the World Health Organization. This infection is usually transmitted to people who have eaten fruits that have left behind the saliva of an infected animal. To date, there is no cure or vaccine for this virus, and the mortality rate reaches from 40% to 75%.
