Donny van de Beek falls out of Austria's opponents Netherlands
Austria's opponents, the Netherlands, will have to do without Donny van de Beek at the European Football Championship. The Manchester United midfielder is out due to an injury, the association announced on Tuesday. The type of injury was not disclosed. Bondscoach Frank de Boer will not appoint a replacement for the 24-year-old. This means that the Dutch will only have 25 players in the European Championship or the game against Red-White-Red on June 17th.
For the Oranje team it is already the second personal setback. Last week, De Boer had already deleted goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen from the squad because the Valencia goalkeeper had tested positive for the corona virus.
The Netherlands will start the pan-European tournament against Ukraine on Sunday (9 p.m.) in Amsterdam. Other opponents in Group C are Austria and North Macedonia.
