Felix Auböck in the Olympic pool.
Felix Auböck qualified for the Olympic final in the 400m freestyle with a new Austrian record and the second-best lead time.
Top performance from Austria's swimming star! Felix Auböck was able to qualify for the swimming final over 400m on Saturday.
The 24-year-old managed this in a sovereign manner. Behind the German Henning Mühlleitner, Auböck came second in his preliminary run. The two swam the fastest times of all runs.
With 3: 43.91 minutes, Auböck even set a new Austrian record over this distance. On Mühlleitner he was only missing 24 hundredths.
This means that Austria can justifiably hope for the first medal at the Olympic Games in Tokyo. The final will take place in the early hours of Sunday morning.
More to come.
