Emily Schöpf
ÖSV athlete Emily Schöpf reports on the Covid 19 disease and the consequences that put her out of action for a long time.
The starting signal for the new ski season will be given in October. It was unclear for a long time after the summer whether Emily Schöpf could start for the ÖSV in the European Cup. Reason? Corona and its consequences.
The 21-year-old only fought her way back from a cruciate ligament rupture in 2020 and was able to accelerate again last winter. Before she suddenly stopped a corona infection in April.
Schöpf fell ill and suffered from the symptoms. Now she describes the “Krone”: “It was really bad for me for two weeks.” But that was not the end of the disease for her.
Doctors sounded the alarm during performance tests three weeks after the infection. Schöpf: “I felt a bit strange at first after my Covid illness. I was also not entirely comfortable on the day of the performance test. My EKG was already so noticeable when I was warming up that we had to stop.”
Her heart showed several intermediate beats. The young sportswoman was prescribed weeks of rest.
The heart problems are now through again. Now she wants to establish herself in the European Cup in order to make it into the World Cup in the coming years.
