Michael Hayboeck
Michael Hayböck had to go under the knife because of a herniated disc. The operation was a success.
Bitter news from the ÖSV camp! Michael Hayböck suffered a herniated disc before the start of the season.
The diagnosis was made this Monday. On the same day, the multiple medalist at the Olympic Games and World Championships was presented by Dr. Michael Gabl successfully operated in Innsbruck.
The ÖSV officially announced this on Thursday.
In the past, the now 30-year-old ski jumping veteran had problems with back problems. Two years ago he had to take a long break in preparation for the summer. This time the pain started shortly before the competitions in Hinzenbach and Klingenthal (GER).
While Hayböck was still able to compete in the home competition in Hinzenbach, participation in the summer finals in Klingenthal last weekend was out of the question. Immediately after the journey, the pain had become too great.
Michael Hayböck: “Immediately after the operation I noticed: Okay, the pain is gone. I was even able to walk around a bit in my room here in the hospital without pain. That is why I am now very positive and in good spirits that I will in the future I have a rest from my back problems. They have been there lately and have increased so much over the past weekend that I could hardly lie down or stand.
Dr. Michael Gabl: “Michael Hayböck was examined on Monday and the herniated disc was diagnosed. At this point he was already suffering from so-called deficits, meaning numbness in his left leg. The operation went very well and the timetable for his return to training is in place. He should be able to start again soon. “
