Orban stressed that the loss of competitiveness threatens Europe more than political risks.
Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban told reporters that Europe's biggest challenge is not security, but economic. He believes that the threat of losing competitiveness on the global market is a more serious challenge than Russia's actions.
This was reported by Novosti.LIVE.
“The real threat is not security, but the economy and the loss of competitiveness in world trade. This is our problem,” Orban emphasized.
When asked about the possible mention of Russia in the final statement of the NATO summit, Orban noted that such formulations are heard constantly.
“It's always remembered that way,” he said, referring to the language about the threat from Russia.
However, he expressed doubt that Russia currently poses a real threat to NATO: “I think Russia is not strong enough to be a real threat. We are much stronger.”
When journalists asked Orban about Donald Trump's leadership in the context of NATO, the prime minister responded ironically: “Welcome back?” he commented on Trump's potential return to the international arena.
As for whether Orban supports the statements of other leaders about Trump, he responded reservedly: “Different countries have different styles,” the prime minister noted.
When asked whether Hungary is blocking some of the language on China or Russia, Orban denies any blocking: “Block what? China? No, we are not blocking China.”
Let us recall that we previously wrote that Viktor Orban is known for his bold statements about Ukraine. He recently openly announced that he is trying to make every effort to prevent Ukraine from joining the EU. He explained his intentions by his concern for Hungarian interests.
