The Hungarian Prime Minister noted Ukraine's desire to become the “new eastern border of the West”.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban said that Ukraine will not become a member of NATO or the EU because “we, Europeans, do not have enough money”.

This statement from the Hungarian politician was made during his speech at the Tusvanyos summer camp in Romania, HVG.hu reports.

According to Orban, Ukraine has no European future, our country will return to the role of a buffer state, with guarantees that will be secured by the United States and Russia.

At the same time, he complimented Ukraine, calling it a strong state that “successfully and with unprecedented force” confronts Russia, and even noted Ukraine's desire to become “the new eastern border of the West”.

“Until now, they [Ukrainians] saw themselves as a conflict zone… Now the prospect of belonging to the West has opened up, this has become a new mission that they have set for themselves, they want to be the new eastern border of the West,” Orban said.

The Prime Minister of Hungary, which will chair the EU Council for six months, also noted that the European Union as a political project should be abandoned and strengthened as an economic project.

Recall that earlier, Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban proposed changing the EU's policy on the war in Ukraine, including resuming diplomatic relations with Russia.
