The pro-Russian Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orban sets conditions for Ukraine. He said that his country, which belongs to NATO and the EU, will not support Ukraine in any issue until it restores the “rights” of ethnic Hungarians.
The politician said this during a speech in parliament, writes Reuters.
“Budapest will not support Ukraine in the international arena on any issue until it restores the former rights of ethnic Hungarians on its territory,” he said.
This is on the law adopted in 2017, according to which in schools where students study languages of national minorities, some subjects must be taught in Ukrainian. Hungary has repeatedly accused Ukraine of “infringing on the rights” of ethnic Hungarians living in Transcarpathia.
Recall that earlier Hungary threatened to block Ukraine’s accession to the EU due to alleged “oppression” of the Hungarian national minority.
