The German movement against restrictive measures related to the coronavirus has decided to postpone major demonstrations until spring. This was stated by Michael Ballweg, one of the leaders of the Querdenken skeptic crown group, reports the Frankfurter Allgemeine newspaper.
In a Christmas video message, Ballweg urged like-minded people to come to terms with the authorities' ban on demonstrations in Berlin, which were originally scheduled for the New Year holidays. He also said that the movement will refrain from organizing protests against quarantine until spring.
On the eve it became known that a more contagious mutation of the coronavirus, discovered in December in the UK, reached Germany. The British strain of the virus was found in a woman who flew to Frankfurt from London.
Since December 16, the German authorities have introduced the strictest quarantine in the entire history of the country due to the coronavirus pandemic. President Frank-Walter Steinmeier urged Germans not to see their relatives in person during the Christmas celebrations. He believes that giving gifts and spending time together can be done later, but now it is necessary to cope with the epidemic.
