Opponent of Ukraine aid to be appointed head of US intelligence committee — Bloomberg

He will replace an active supporter of aid to Ukraine in this position.

Speaker of the House of Representatives US Congress Mike Johnson has nominated Arkansas Republican Representative Rick Crawford to chair the Intelligence Committee. Crawford is a vocal opponent of aid to Ukraine and will replace Mike Turner in this post.

This is reported by Bloomberg.

Johnson reportedly nominated Crawford less than a day after Turner was unexpectedly removed from office in favor of another American legislator who was “more in line with the ideology.”

Johnson said that his decision was due to the fact that the US intelligence community needs a “fresh start,” and also added that Trump had nothing to do with this decision.

Turner disagreed with Trump on supporting Ukraine, which is opposing Russian aggressors.

Turner has always been a consistent supporter of aid to Ukraine, advocated for the constant supply of weapons for the Armed Forces of Ukraine and the acceleration of these processes.

Recall that it was previously reported that Biden assured that the US Congress has enough opportunities to ensure that aid to Ukraine does not stop.

In addition, we previously reported that Zelensky welcomed the new convocation of the US Congress and Johnson on his re-election.
