Oppo invented vein unlock smartphone

by alex

Oppo has patented a new technology that may well be used in future devices. This is vein unlocking, another form of biometric verification.

According to patent documents, it is a system similar to face recognition or fingerprinting. The new technology creates a map of the veins in the user's hand. The owner will then most likely just need to show their palm to the camera. This is similar to LG's Hand ID method, which “remembers” the thickness and characteristics of the user's veins and then uses that to unlock.

Unfortunately, not very many details are known about Oppo's new technology. The patented system has the potential to be applied to various electronic devices of Chinese tech giants. And not only in smartphones, but also, for example, in smartwatches.
