Onishchenko was skeptical about information about a universal antibody to coronavirus

Former chief sanitary doctor of Russia, first deputy chairman of the State Duma Committee on Education and Science Gennady Onishchenko commented on the news of the discovery of a “universal antibody”, which was discovered by American scientists. According to them, the antibody is capable of neutralizing all known mutations of the coronavirus.

As Onishchenko noted, he “has been hearing about such discoveries for 40 years already.” But so far a person has not been able to get ahead of nature and create an antibody that will protect against everything, TASS cites his opinion.

“This contradicts human evolution a little: we are so arranged that in the process of evolution, in contact with the microcosm, we, meeting with a new dangerous infection for us, react with our immunity, individual or population, to a specific virus, a specific microbe. – this, of course, is a question from the point of view of even the current ideas about immunology, quite controversial, “- commented Onishchenko.

As the site kp.ru previously wrote, scientists from the United States announced the discovery of a unique antibody that can fight common variants of the coronavirus – “alpha”, “beta”, “gamma”, “delta”, “kappa”, “iota” – as well as rare mutations.
