So he commented on the publication in the scientific journal Immunity of the results of a study, during which, thanks to experiments on laboratory mice, American scientists identified an antibody that effectively neutralizes almost all known varieties of coronavirus.
“A message has appeared that a universal antibody has been found that will protect against everything. I have been hearing this conversation for about 40 years already. This is a little contrary to human evolution: we are so arranged that in the process of evolution, in contact with the microcosm, we are meeting with a new a dangerous infection for us, we react with our immunity, individual or population, to a specific virus, a specific microbe, “he said at an online briefing on Tuesday.
“And to protect yourself from everyone at once is, of course, a rather controversial issue from the point of view of even current ideas about immunology,” he added.
At the same time, Onishchenko noted that science is moving forward: it is possible that such an opportunity will appear, “and man, ahead of nature, will create a kind of universal antibody that will protect from everything.”
