On July 2, the Moldovan government will consider a bill allowing the destruction of enemy objects in the sky in the event of a threat.
The Moldovan Defense Ministry has prepared a new draft law on airspace security. The document will allow shooting down enemy drones, planes and missiles in case of anger. The government will consider it on July 2.
This was reported by NewsMaker.md.
The new law is intended to replace current regulations, which the government believes are outdated and do not take into account new security challenges. The draft law envisages the possibility of using air defense against any aircraft, from drones to missiles, that illegally cross the border and pose a real threat.
The use of force is only possible after assessing the situation in accordance with international law and in the presence of a confirmed danger to the population or objects.
According to the document, interceptor aircraft will be able to open fire to kill if an aircraft makes an attack, takes an aggressive position, or responds with maneuvers or fire to attempts to stop it.
Also, in the event of military aggression, the introduction of a state of emergency or martial law, the authorities will be able to ban all civil and government flights.
A separate section – drones
The project includes a separate chapter on countering drones. Depending on the threat level, they can be intercepted, neutralized or destroyed. Radars, electronic systems and other detection means are planned to be used for this purpose.
Border police will receive expanded powers: they will be able to independently intercept or neutralize drones violating the country's border.
Let us recall that Ukraine uses modern interceptor drones to destroy Russian Shahed drones. And there are already 6-8 developments of such interceptor drones.
