The court chose a preventive measure for one of the students detained for beating up the Olympic champion in figure skating Dmitry Solovyov in Moscow. This was reported by TASS with reference to the press service of the court.
“The court granted the request of the investigation and chose Vladislav Yakovtseva as a preventive measure in the form of detention in the case,” the court said.
On December 22, a criminal case was initiated against the students under Article 112 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Intentional infliction of medium-gravity harm to health, committed by a group of persons out of hooligan motives”). It provides for imprisonment for up to five years. If the state of health of Solovyov begins to deteriorate, the article may be re-qualified to a more serious one – 113 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (“Intentional infliction of grievous bodily harm, committed by a group of persons out of hooligan motives”). According to it, the attackers will face up to 12 years in prison.
On December 21, the athlete was beaten in Moscow by three students from Chita when he stood up for his girlfriend, curling player Anna Sidorova. The moment of the attack was captured by a video surveillance camera.
