Finland decided to keep the closed border with the aggressor Russia due to potential threats. After all, Moscow is not changing its activities, but rather the opposite.
This was stated by the country's Prime Minister Petteri Orpo, the newspaper Turun Sanomat reported.
“Unfortunately, the threat assessment of the eastern border remains unchanged, so we cannot open the border,” the politician emphasized.
According to him, the biggest problem was allegedly the shadow fleet of the Russian Federation. This is why the European Union and NATO are looking for ways to counter it.
“If some border checkpoints were opened, this would lead to Russia letting through people who do not have the appropriate documents. Therefore, the border cannot be opened even on an experimental basis,” the Finnish Prime Minister is convinced.
In addition, Orpo expressed hope that the newly elected US President Donald Trump sincerely wants to listen to the opinion of his partners on the situation in Ukraine. After all, the politician notes, “now it is important that the country is able to defend itself.”
Recall that Ukrainian Foreign Minister Andriy Sybiga stated that North Korea and Russia are working together to destabilize Europe and the Indo-Pacific region.
