One of the EU countries will legalize Ukrainians with expired passports

In May 2022, Budapest declared a state of emergency due to the situation in Ukraine.

Hungary will allow Ukrainians with expired passports to obtain residence permit.

This is stated in the government decree of June 14.

The Hungarian government issued a decree on regulating the validity of foreign passports of Ukrainian citizens, which determines that the identity card is border is considered valid during the state of emergency declared in Hungary.

According to the document, when applying for a residence permit, the international passport of a citizen of Ukraine who has lost its validity is considered valid and the residence permit can be issued within six months after the end of the state of emergency in Hungary.

It is worth noting that in May 2022, Budapest declared a state of emergency due to the situation in Ukraine. It was then extended in April of this year.
