One European country requires an additional pension

< p>The need to increase pension payments was argued by the trade unions by the constant increase in the cost of living.

In Switzerland, the demand of the trade unions to pay an additional 13 pension annually was supported by almost 60% of voters.

This is reported by Radio Liberty with reference to the result of the referendum that took place in this country.

The Swiss Federation of Trade Unions said the results of the vote “clearly show that the government, the majority of parliament and employers have ignored the pension problem for too long.”

The need for an increase Unions argued for pension payments due to the constant increase in the cost of living. The government warns that additional pension payments would cost more than 4 billion Swiss francs a year, which would lead to higher taxes and could threaten the financial stability of the social security system.

The average pension in Switzerland is CHF 2,450 ($2,780), but the country is considered one of the most expensive to live in the world.

At the same time, voting for raising the retirement age from 65 to 66 years did not find support from voters.

Recall that Switzerland will pay Ukrainian refugees from 1000 to 4000 dollars in case of voluntary return to their homeland.
