According to company vice presidents Jennifer Flannery O'Connor and Emily Moxley, this is especially important when the content discusses sensitive topics – elections, conflicts and crises in the field of public health, politics, etc.
The new approach aims to help users avoid getting confused by synthetic content as new consumer-focused generative artificial intelligence tools proliferate. They allow you to quickly and easily create attractive texts, images, videos and audios that are often difficult to tell apart from the real ones.
As noted by the company, the ability to attach a shortcut will be added to the process of uploading videos to YouTube. Innovations will begin to be implemented from the beginning of next year. Tags usually appear in video description panels and sometimes in the video player. Visual content created using YouTube's own AI tools will also be clearly labeled.
YouTube assures that users who do not comply with the new requirements will be held accountable. Thus, violating creators may face content removal or suspension from YouTube's monetization partner program. The platform also noted that synthetic content or AI-generated content that violates community guidelines will be subject to the same restrictions or removals as other videos.
The platform's music partners will also be able to invite the removal of AI-generated music that imitates the voices of specific artists.
