Lucas Hernandez
Lucas Hernandez's imprisonment is getting closer and closer. The ten-day period ends next Thursday. Until then there is no trial date.
The Bayern star has appealed against his six-month prison sentence. However, this will probably not be negotiated before the arrest on Thursday, as a spokesman for the court administration of the Spanish capital Madrid announced on Friday to the “dpa”.
Although there are talks with the responsible judges of the Audiencia Provincial, a kind of regional court, a decision on the date of an appeal hearing will not be made until next Tuesday at the earliest.
And thus probably too late for the 25-year-old soccer star. Just two days later, a ten-day deadline for the 2018 world champion to voluntarily start his six-month prison sentence in a detention center of his choice passes by. Hernandez was granted this time limit at a court hearing last Monday.
So it is quite possible that the soccer star will first have to be detained before a decision on his appeal is made a day or even weeks later.
The defender was sentenced to six months in prison in 2019. Hernandez had disregarded a ban on contact in 2017 after a violent argument with his girlfriend at the time and now wife. The couple had quickly reconciled after the argument and flew to Miami on vacation together. When he returned to Madrid – Hernandez played for Atletico Madrid at the time – the disregard of the ban on contact was exposed.
