OMV intends to gradually invest almost 200 million euros in the Schwechat refinery by 2023 in the production of biofuels from vegetable oils and liquid waste such as used cooking oil. In the future, up to 160,000 tons of liquid biomass are to be converted into CO2-neutral fuels there, announced the OMV on Tuesday.
OMV wants to have at least 60 percent natural gas and CO2-free products in its entire product portfolio by 2025. OMV assumes that its demand for hydrogenated biofuels will increase tenfold by 2030.
