On February 8, Ukrainian figure skater Ivan Shmuratko qualified for the free skate at the 2022 Winter Olympics in Beijing.
The 20-year-old athlete got the opportunity to go on the ice thanks to 78.11 points from the judges after completing the short program of men’s singles.
– After the performance, I am overwhelmed with incredible emotions! I want to thank all Ukraine, which supports us! We do our work here not only for ourselves, but also for the whole country–” the athlete said after completing the short program.
Ivan Shmuratko does not hide the joy of going on the ice on February 8, because three days ago, while in quarantine after receiving a positive test for Covid-19, he did not know whether he would be able to compete at the Olympic Games.
– I managed to do everything I planned in the short program. It turned out well, in my opinion. Now I will let go of emotions after today’s performance and I will tune in, prepare for the free program,” the figure skater added.

Figure skating performances in the men’s free skate at the 2022 Olympics will take place on Thursday, February 10.
After the 2014 Olympic Games, Ukrainian figure skaters failed to make it to the final part of the competition.
Recall that the Ukrainian Olympic figure skater in men’s single figure skating Ivan Shmuratko could not represent the country in team competitions, because on February 3 he received a positive test for coronavirus.
