Olympic champion in modern pentathlon Alexander Lesun compared his income to the salaries of Russian footballers. It is reported by Sport24.

According to the athlete, players receive more in one match than he in three months. Lesun noted that he was happy to watch the championships of England and Spain, but he could not look at Russian football without tears.

The pentathlete also criticized the media for over-focusing on football. “Everyone knows about football, the third squad of the national team, the case of Kokorin and Mamaev, but no one knows the chess players, gymnasts, synchronized swimmers, and so on,” added Lesun.

The athlete became the winner of the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro. In addition, Lesun has won four gold medals at the World Championships.

On September 23, State Duma deputy Valery Gazzaev called the high salaries of football players justified. He drew attention to the fact that Russian oligarchs receive a lot of money.
