According to the skier, as a child he had appendicitis, which was started. This was due to an incorrect diagnosis by the local doctor. As a result, the inflamed appendix burst, and only after that Legkov was sent to the hospital. There he underwent two major operations. Doctors later told the skier that he could have died.
