Olympic champion Natalya Bestemyanova complained that she did not have enough pension in 90 thousand rubles to live. She announced this on the air of the “Secret for a Million” program on NTV, the release is available on YouTube.
In a conversation with TV presenter Leroy Kudryavtseva, the former athlete admitted that her pension consists of regular pension payments and a special “presidential” pension for Olympic champions. The bonus part for athletes was introduced by the then-Minister of Sports (from 2002 to 2004 – approx. “Lenta.ru” ) hockey player Vyacheslav Fetisov.
At first, the premium was about 15 thousand rubles, which at that time was a huge amount, Bestemyanova noted. Subsequently, the amount was repeatedly indexed due to inflation and is currently about 60 thousand.
