The Salzburg resident has been competing in the World Cup since 1994 and is aiming for her fifth Olympic participation in Beijing next year.
Snowboarder Claudia Riegler will continue her long career in the coming Olympic winter. “I can still feel the fire in me,” said the 47-year-old from Salzburg in an ÖSV broadcast on Thursday. The ex-world champion had two fourth individual places in the World Cup last season, and she was fourth in the giant slalom at the World Championships in Rogla. Riegler also won the World Cup team competition with Andreas Prommegger in Bad Gastein.
In the parallel overall ranking, Riegler was eighth as the best Austrian. Since she can still keep up with the much younger competition, she continues. “A couple of times I missed only a few hundredths of a second to jump on the podium. What motivates me is the fact that I'm still at eye level with drivers like the Russian Sofia Nadyrschina or the Japanese Tsubaki Miki, who are 30 years younger than me”, emphasized Riegler, who has competed in the World Cup since 1994 and is aiming for her fifth Olympic participation in Beijing next year.
