ÖFB team players can look forward to “regeneration day”
Austria's soccer team players will be given a short break with their family members before they arrive at the EURO Basecamp in Seefeld on Tuesday. As the ÖFB reported, after the Slovakia match on Sunday evening, players and coaches will have the opportunity to “recharge their batteries with their closest family members on a regeneration day before the start of the European Championship”.
That is why they agreed “in close coordination with the medical department on rules of conduct and a test procedure for the contact persons in order to move in the safest possible environment”. Traveling abroad is not permitted for members of the ÖFB convoy. The team and all supervisors will travel together from Vienna to Seefeld on Tuesday after PCR and antigen testing.
ÖFB sports director Peter Schöttel said of the “regeneration day”: “We spoke to the players and it became clear that a day off with the families is an essential factor for the coming weeks. We want that to be more precisely defined Enabling measures to be able to start the EURO well prepared and fresh in your head. “
The national team is subject to a strict Corona prevention concept including close testing, in which the families are now temporarily integrated. No positive case has occurred in an ÖFB team camp since the beginning of the pandemic. The team and the support team met on May 27th in Bad Tatzmannsdorf and have not been allowed to leave the common Corona “bubble” for meetings with family members since then.
