This was confirmed by the KNVB association on Tuesday. The 24-year-old Manchester United player is suffering from an injury, but national coach Frank de Boer will not nominate a replacement.
The Netherlands will face the Austrian national team in Group C on June 17th (Thursday, 9:00 p.m.).
De Boer had previously had to remove regular goalkeeper Jasper Cillessen from the EM squad due to a corona infection. It has been known for several weeks that key player Virgil van Dijk is absent due to a knee injury.
