ÖFB presidential election: duel for the Windtner successor

by alex

Duel for the chief post: Roland Schmid and Gerhard Milletich fight a duel for the office of ÖFB president.

Still-ÖFB-President Leo Windtner

The new president of the Austrian Football Association (ÖFB) is called either Gerhard Milletich or Johann Schmid. The 65-year-old head of the Burgenland regional association and the 45-year-old entrepreneur were unanimously nominated as candidates to succeed Leo Windtner on Monday by the ÖFB election committee. Both now have to face a hearing at the next election committee meeting on Saturday, and the decision will be made immediately afterwards.

The new president will be officially elected on October 17th at the Ordinary General Meeting of the ÖFB. Windtner announced weeks ago that it would no longer run for the vote. Ex-Rapid boss Michael Krammer was not put on the candidate list by the election committee.
