Obstacles to Turkey-US Strategic Partnership Revealed

by alex

One of the obstacles to the strategic partnership between Turkey and the United States is the latter's support for Greece. This and other reasons were disclosed by the head of the Association of Eurasian Governments, Hasan Cengiz, in a conversation with Lenta.ru correspondent Khayal Muazzin.

According to him, now Washington cannot be called either a strategic partner or a strategic ally of Ankara. One of the reasons for the gap is the support of Greece and the Greek part of Southern Cyprus from the United States. In addition, Cengiz noted, the American side is pursuing a policy that threatens Turkey's interests in Syria.

“Whoever is the president of America, her attitude towards Turkey will remain unchanged. Those who believe in positive developments need to answer a few questions. Will the US continue its aggressive policy against Turkey? Will the sanctions against it be abandoned? No, ”he added.

According to Cengiz, the United States and Turkey are connected only by NATO membership. Even despite working in the alliance, Washington did not provide assistance to Ankara in Syria. Cengiz believes that the United States is using Turkey to fight Russia with its forces.

In November 2020, Cengiz argued that Turkey would soon withdraw from NATO, and the organization itself could well be called collapsed. He predicted destruction of the alliance within the next 2-3 years and suggested that Russia will create a new strategic pact, which will include Turkey.
